Krirk International Affairs, in collaboration with the International Islamic College Bangkok, Krirk University, undertook an official study visit to the Halal Food Control Division (HFCD), Department of Shariah Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam. The visit aimed to deepen understanding of Brunei’s comprehensive halal industry management framework and explore avenues for future collaboration.
During the visit, the delegation observed Brunei’s systematic approach to halal certification, which encompasses stringent procedures in certification issuance, establishment audits, and compliance monitoring in accordance with Shariah principles. The discussions highlighted the nation’s robust governance mechanisms designed to uphold the integrity and global credibility of its halal standards.
The visiting delegation comprised:
- Dr. Sarawut Laesan– Assistant to the Chairman for Strategy and Development , Assistant to the Vice President for International Affairs,Vice Dean of International Islamic College Bangkok for Administration and International Affairs.
- Dr. Chanidapha Nunualvuttiwong – Assistant to the Chairman for International Education Development, Director of International Affairs.
- Mr. Piranut Boonmalert – Lecturer in Islamic Business Administration and Assistant to the Director of the Thai Halal Business Development Center
- Ms. Urassaya Wangboon – Secretary, Thai Halal Business Development Center
- Ms. Fareesy wangpitug – International Relations Officer
Key areas of discussion for potential collaboration included:
- Mutual exchange of knowledge and halal certification standards between Thailand and Brunei
- Joint development of academic programs and collaborative research in halal studies
- Capacity-building initiatives through training programs and international expert networks
- Promotion of Thai halal entrepreneurs’ access to Brunei and broader ASEAN markets
- Collaboration on innovation and technology to advance the halal industry
