On March 3, 2025, the Russia-Thailand Higher Education Leaders’ Forum officially commenced at Krirk University under the theme “Education in the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Thailand: University – the Space of Innovations.” The event was organized in collaboration with St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON), Russia, along with relevant governmental agencies from both countries. The forum aimed to strengthen cooperation in higher education, research, and innovation, driving academic advancement on an international scale.
The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Professor Dr. Krasae Chanawongse, President of Krirk University, who warmly welcomed the participants. Remarks were also delivered by H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Thailand, along with rectors from leading Russian universities, who emphasized the significance of education and knowledge exchange between the two nations.
The morning session began with a special cultural performance by Thai and Russian artists, showcasing the strong cultural collaboration between the two countries. Following the performance, participants watched a video presentation about Krirk University, highlighting its vision and academic innovation initiatives.
During the mid-morning session, a plenary discussion titled “Fostering Innovation in Universities: A Russia-Thailand Dialogue” took place, featuring distinguished speakers from both countries. Professor Dr. Krasae Chanawongse delivered a speech on “Education in Russia and Thailand: University – the Space of Innovations,” emphasizing the role of universities as hubs for knowledge and technological development. Prof. Dr. Igor Maksimtsev, Rector of St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON), Russia, spoke on “Academic Relations between Russia and Thailand: Foundations for Sustainable Economic Cooperation.” Professor Dr. Thawatchai Supadit, Rector of Nakhon Phanom University, discussed academic exchange strategies and the creation of international cooperation networks. Prof. Dr. Alexey Shulus, Director of the Russian State University for the Humanities, addressed the role of universities on the global stage.
At the conclusion of the morning session, all participants gathered for a group photograph, symbolizing the strong partnership between universities and educational institutions in both countries. The afternoon session continued with in-depth discussions on innovation in education, digital-era learning, and opportunities for collaboration in curriculum development and student exchange programs, aiming to enhance the capabilities of academic personnel.
The first day of the forum concluded with an exchange of perspectives on innovation and modern educational approaches. This event is expected to serve as the foundation for sustainable collaboration between Thai and Russian universities while fostering the continuous development of international academic networks.
