As part of its continued commitment to academic excellence and community engagement, Krirk University, through its Center for Academic Service and Social Engagement in collaboration with the International College, organizes an educational study visit to the Sirindhorn National Medical Rehabilitation Institute, a leading institution under Thailand’s Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health.
Established under the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Institute stands as a national center of excellence in rehabilitation medicine, dedicated to improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities and patients requiring long-term rehabilitation through sustainable and holistic care.
During the visit, Krirk University faculty members and students gain firsthand insight into comprehensive rehabilitation practices that integrate health promotion, prevention, treatment, and recovery. Particular attention is given to occupational therapy services that combine specialized clinical techniques with modern technologies. Participants observe therapeutic approaches focusing on upper limb and hand function, cognitive and perceptual rehabilitation, facial and oral muscle training, as well as swallowing, chewing, and speech-related therapies.
The delegation also explores specialized clinics, including the swallowing rehabilitation clinic, a driver training clinic designed for persons with disabilities, and advanced upper limb movement training facilities. These services support a wide range of patient groups, including individuals recovering from stroke, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, oral and laryngeal cancer, and those experiencing limb injuries or amputations.
One of the key highlights of the study visit is exposure to advanced rehabilitation technologies, such as robotic gait training systems, lower-limb movement training devices, balance training platforms, virtual cycling systems, computer-assisted rehabilitation programs, hydrotherapy, and music therapy. These integrated therapeutic approaches demonstrate how rehabilitation science is enhanced through interdisciplinary innovation and international standards of practice.
For Krirk University, the study visit represents more than an academic excursion. It reinforces the University’s dedication to equipping students with contemporary knowledge and practical experience in modern rehabilitation medicine. The insights gained contribute directly to the enhancement of teaching methodologies, research development, and academic service initiatives, ensuring that the University’s programs continue to align with global standards and evolving societal needs.
Through initiatives such as this, Krirk University reaffirms its role as an institution committed not only to academic advancement but also to meaningful social contribution and sustainable human development.
