Bangkok, Thailand – 26 January 2026 — Krirk University marked an important step in its international engagement with the official launch of the Thailand–Türkiye Cooperation Center, reaffirming its commitment to academic diplomacy and long-term institutional collaboration between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Türkiye. The launching ceremony took place at the International Islamic College Bangkok (IICB), Krirk University.
The establishment of the Center reflects Krirk University’s broader vision of internationalization—one that goes beyond academic exchange to embrace cultural understanding, policy dialogue, and people-to-people connection. Conceived as a collaborative platform, the Center aims to facilitate joint research, academic exchange, youth engagement, and sustained dialogue among universities, policymakers, and partner institutions from both countries.
In her remarks, Prompan Juntaranont, President of Krirk University, emphasized the University’s belief in education as a powerful bridge between societies. She highlighted the responsibility of higher education institutions to nurture mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and global partnership through academic excellence and meaningful intercultural engagement.
The event was further enriched by a keynote address from Mehmet Emin Ay, Grand Imam of Ayasofya Mosque, Professor of Islamic Studies at Uludağ University, and former Provincial Mufti under the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) of the Republic of Türkiye. His address underscored the enduring importance of education, ethical leadership, and dialogue among civilizations as cornerstones of trust and cooperation in an increasingly complex global landscape.
Reaffirming the University’s international outlook, Jaran Maluleem, Vice President for International Affairs and Dean of the International Islamic College Bangkok, noted that the Thailand–Türkiye Cooperation Center represents more than an institutional initiative. He described it as a shared commitment to cultivating academic collaboration and common values across educational, cultural, and societal dimensions.
The strategic framework and long-term direction of the Center were further outlined by Chanidapha Nunualvuttiwong, Director of the Office of International Affairs, who emphasized the Center’s role in linking academia with diplomatic and community-based engagement to ensure sustainable and meaningful outcomes.
As part of the program, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed, symbolizing a collective intention to pursue long-term institutional cooperation. The event also featured academic and diplomatic discussions addressing economic diplomacy, education, cultural exchange, and youth cooperation—reflecting the depth and diversity of Thailand–Türkiye relations.
The launch of the Thailand–Türkiye Cooperation Center underscores Krirk University’s evolving role as a hub for academic diplomacy and international dialogue. Through this initiative, the University continues to strengthen global partnerships, foster mutual understanding, and prepare students and scholars to engage thoughtfully and responsibly with the changing dynamics of the international community.
