Bangkok, Thailand – 12 January 2026 — The International Islamic College Bangkok (IICB), in collaboration with the International Affairs Office, Krirk University, warmly welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand for a strategic discussion aimed at strengthening educational and academic cooperation between Thailand and countries in the Middle East.
The delegation comprised senior Thai diplomatic representatives currently serving in key Middle Eastern countries, including:
- H.E. Mr. Bolbongse Vangphaen, Ambassador of Thailand to Abu Dhabi
- H.E. Ms. Mathurawee Wisuthakul, Deputy Director-General, Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs
- H.E. Ms. Jiraporn Jirampaikool, Ambassador of Thailand to Amman
- H.E. Mr. Pongprach Makchang, Ambassador of Thailand to Riyadh
On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornpan Chandranon, President of Krirk University, together with Prof. Dr. Jaran Maluleem, Vice President for International Affairs, and senior faculty members, extended their congratulations and best wishes to the ambassadors on their forthcoming diplomatic appointments. The meeting reflected the close and constructive partnership between Thailand’s higher education sector and its diplomatic community in advancing international engagement.
The discussion focused on reinforcing long-standing relations with Middle Eastern countries and exploring future directions for educational and academic collaboration. Participants highlighted significant opportunities arising from the growing demand in the international labor market for professionals with Arabic language proficiency, particularly in key fields such as medicine, business, and other high-potential industries. Educational cooperation was widely recognized as a vital bridge linking academic preparation with real employment opportunities in the private sector.
The meeting also addressed important challenges, including mechanisms to support Thai students affected by overseas situations who wish to continue their studies in Thailand, as well as the need to expand and diversify career pathways for graduates returning from Middle Eastern countries.
As a strategic outcome, the participants proposed the development of a centralized policy framework to ensure that educational initiatives and international cooperation undertaken by Thai embassies align in a consistent and effective direction. This framework is expected to enhance coordination, efficiency, and long-term impact in advancing Thailand’s international education agenda.
This engagement marks an important milestone in strengthening educational cooperation between Thailand and Middle Eastern countries and reinforces Thailand’s role within the global Muslim community. It also underscores Krirk University’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing education that responds to global needs in an increasingly interconnected world.
